Multiple Resists
Explore the use of multiple resists to create multi-layered structural 3D felted objects.
The course explores the different results achieved when using plastic, fabric, bubble-wrap and objects in the design of closed, open and jointed resists. Unusual
convoluted and multi-chambered forms may have you imagining such things as
strange cabbages, roses, and segmented seedpods. Anita’s innovative methods
of using multiple resists can be utilized within the making of a scarf, a bangle, a
hat or bag, or explored within a purely sculptural shape of extreme texture. Move beyond the simple solitary resist and explore the next dimension (No materials fee) Anita Larkin began felting in 1993 and was immediately enamored with the sculptural potential of this ancient craft. A professional sculptor represented
by Defi ance Gallery Sydney, she holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts, and has
studied feltmaking in Turkey, Hungary and Australia. Anita’s felt forms have
been exhibited in Australia, Italy, Germany, Hungary and the UK. With over 16
years teaching feltmaking and sculpture, both nationally and internationally,
she gently encourages her students to create something wondrous and quite
unexpected. Anita enjoys creating felt forms that are well constructed but still
contain an element of play in their making.
