Exhibition An Exhibition is held in conjunction with each Fibres West event. This is a great opportunity for participants and members of the public to view an inspiring collection of textile work. Thanks to a generous sponsorship arrangement with Wool Agency Pty Ltd, a Western Australian wool-broking company, we are able to present the work of two exciting international textile artists:
Unique Perspectives: Two solo exhibitions • Joomchi Paper Works by Jiyoung Chung • Felted Work by Helen O'Hare
The exhibition is proudly supported by the Bunbury Regional Art Galleries located at 64 Wittenoom Street , Bunbury from 23 September until 13 November 2011. Sonya Dye, Director of the Bunbury Regional Art Galleries expressed her pleasure that the Galleries had been invited to host the Fibres West 2011 Triennial Exhibition: “This is the only international exhibition being presented by the Galleries this year, and the opportunities available as a consequence of being the only Australian venue for the show are quite significant. Audiences from the South West region will have the chance to enjoy exceptional works from Korean artist Jiyoung Chung and Irish artist Helen O'Hare in a gallery in their own backyard. This is a rare opportunity. I hope this exhibition will encourage regional practitioners to consider the development and expansion of their own practice and to explore new and exciting opportunities.”
As well as an Opening Night celebration on 23 September, there will also be a public lecture and afternoon tea timed to coincide with the Fibres West week, to which all Fibres West participants are warmly invited.
