About Fibres West Inc.
Fibres West Inc is a not-for-profit association committed to nurturing inspiration, skill and creativity within the contemporary textile community. Our focus is the organisation of outstanding textile art conferences in Western Australia.
Since 1992, Fibres West has held eleven highly successful events (our 2021 event had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19-pandemic). For the first three of our events, classes were offered mainly in 1, 2, or 3-day format, with a 5-day class format introduced in 1999. The residential format was introduced in 1995. Since 2002 all classes at Fibres West events have been of 5-day duration. In 2025 we are offering both residential and non-residential options.
From 1992 to 2010, Fibres West operated as a regional forum under the auspices of The Australian Forum for Textile Arts Ltd (TAFTA), a national, not-for-profit organisation. In 2010 Fibres West became an independent Incorporated Association. Fibres West 2025 will be the thirteenth textile conference organised by Fibres West, known since 2010 as Fibres West Inc.
