Adele Outteridge

Adele gained her bachelor’s degree in science from the University of Melbourne in 1967 and subsequently worked as an Experimental Scientist at CSIRO for some years. She studied graphic design during the 1980s, and has attended workshops and courses in design, book arts, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, even taxidermy. She now lives in Brisbane and runs The Studio West End (established 1998) with Wim de Vos (until his death in 2018). 


Adele travels widely lecturing and teaching workshops including at the Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts in Tennessee and at the Women’s Studio Workshop, New York. She has participated in several artist in residence projects including in schools and galleries, and in the Ramingining Aboriginal Community in The Northern Territory. 


Adele’s work in artists' books, printmaking, sculpture and drawing has been exhibited widely and is held in private and public collections nationally and internationally including the State Library of Queensland, regional galleries, schools and university collections. 


Her work has appeared in many publications including Keith Smith's Non-Adhesive Binding series.
