Anzara Clark is a multidisciplinary artist/designer who combines traditional craft and contemporary experimental approaches, exploring and stretching the limits and intersections of paper and fibre manipulation, and textile processes. Her works challenge assumptions about paper as a material and as a creative vehicle; for textile objects and artworks, garment forms, and functional accessories.
Influenced by her learning in Japan, Anzara’s studio practice and teaching focus on finding contemporary applications for Eastern paper textile traditions in western creative contexts. She has published a two-volume book series, Paper As Textile, exploring various processes for creating and using paper cloth and textiles.
