Alternative Surfaces in Jewellery

TUTOR

Mary Hettmansperger (United States)

In this workshop, students will learn a variety of unique surfaces using patinas, embossing, coloured pencils and torch fire enamelling while creating artworks on a precious scale.

Learn to incorporate found items into your jewellery creations, allowing the pieces to become narrative and personal. A variety of cold connections and weaving techniques will be taught, instead of soldering, to connect and create the works. Copper and some silver sheet metal will also be incorporated for accent, and a variety of other materials including found objects, art paper and waxed linen, will add that personal touch as you construct your pieces.

Students are encouraged to bring their budding ideas, small personal found objects and other materials to discover the endless options for assembling and connecting. Suitable for all levels of experience.
