In this in-depth felting workshop participants will create cloth from multiple dyed pre-felts, using a method of construction, deconstruction, and reconstruction to discover a cloth with interest and complexity.
The subsequent garment pieces are linked to unify the cloth, with each maker creating their individual garment of unique beauty and interest.
We will learn how to make a template based on our own body measurements and to allow for differing shrinkage rates during the felting process. We will also be dyeing our own pre-felts using safe dyeing practices.
Material Fee: approx. $40

Bio
Starting her artistic career as a studio potter, Pam de Groot has worked in the field of Fibre and Textile art for over two decades. She creates wearables, accessories, and more recently sculptural works of art. In this time, she has explored new approaches to using felt, fibre, dyeing techniques and colour. She particularly pushes the boundaries of what is possible within the medium of felt making to develop and realise new innovations in this ever-growing field of textile art. An active member of CraftNSW and untethered fibre artists, Pam’s work is informed by the natural world, its shapes, colours and the materials under her hands. ‘I hope to excite the others with the possibilities and mysteries of this craft.’ Website: www.pamdegroot.com Instagram: @pamdegroot |
