Just announced: The Embroiderers' Guild of WA is offering a generous Scholarship, to attend Fibres West 2023! The details are below.
Following the cancellation of our 2021 event, the Fibres West, WAFTA, and WAQA Scholarships (which were each awarded to successful recipients in 2021) are carried forward to Fibres West 2023.
Each of the four Scholarships is offered by a by prominent textile and fibre art association in Western Australia. Application criteria & guidelines, and the selection process of successful candidates is decided by the respective associations.

Fibres West Scholarship 2021/2023
The Fibres West Scholarship Fund was established in 2008. The scholarship is available to assist a Fibres West participant who, without the benefit of the scholarship, would have difficulty attending a Fibres West event.
The Scholarship covered 80% of the 2021 full-fee registration cost ($1,120) with the recipient contributing 20% of the 2021 full-fee registration cost ($280). The recipient is responsible for any materials fees charged for their chosen workshop.
The 2023 Fibres West Scholarship has been awarded to Eliza Puzey (carried over from 2021).

Embroiderers' Guild Scholarship 2023
The Embroiderers’ Guild of Western Australia (EGWA) is very pleased to offer a scholarship to attend Fibres West from July 2-8, 2023.
The applicant must be a financial member of EGWA at the time of application and during the Fibres West 2023 residency. The successful applicant will be chosen on merit with a particular interest in supporting a member who has not attended Fibres West before and is keen to explore and share innovative textile techniques with the Guild.
The scholarship will cover $1,000 towards the full-fee registration cost, with the recipient contributing the balance of the full-fee registration and their materials list costs.

Scholarship @ Fibres West 2023
Commencing in 2015, the Western Australian Fibre & Textile Association (WAFTA) has awarded WAFTA Scholarships for four consecutive Fibres West events. Applicants must be a financial member of Wafta both at time of application and during the Fibres West residency. Successful recipients were chosen on merit and on their enthusiasm to promote fibre and textiles and WAFTA.
The 2021 Scholarship was valued at $1,000 towards the full-fee registration cost, with the recipient contributing the balance of the full-fee registration and their materials list costs.
The 2023 WAFTA Scholarship has been awarded to Trudi Pollard (carried over from 2021).

West Australian Quilters’ Association Scholarship 2023
In 2021, the West Australian Quilters’ Association Inc. (WAQA) again made available a Scholarship to a WAQA member (who would have difficulty attending the event without such assistance) to attend the 2021 Fibres West event. The Applicant must be a financial member of WAQA both at the time of application and during Fibres West 2021.
The successful recipient was selected based on the artistic benefit to their arts practice and their commitment to promote WAQA abd textile art in Western Australia. The scholarship covered AU$1,000, with the recipient contributing the remaining full-fee registration cost and any materials fees charged for their chosen workshop.
The 2023 WAQA Scholarship has been awarded to Helen O'Hara (carried over from 2021).
The successful recipient was selected based on the artistic benefit to their arts practice and their commitment to promote WAQA abd textile art in Western Australia. The scholarship covered AU$1,000, with the recipient contributing the remaining full-fee registration cost and any materials fees charged for their chosen workshop.
