We also send out E-newsletters on a regular basis to all who have enrolled.  Or check our News & Updates at any time.
WORKSHOPS
All workshops are filled on a first-come first-served basis. Any waiting lists for workshops are also applied on this basis. If a place becomes available in your first workshop choice, you will be moved into it. If your preferred workshop is full or cancelled, you will be offered a place in your second preference workshop, another workshop or a full refund. The organisers reserve the right to cancel a workshop if the minimum number of students is not reached by May 1, 2021.

Generally, workshops are limited to 12 participants. Most workshops have a materials fee; payable to the tutor on the first day of class. You will be advised of workshop requirements in early May 2021, upon receipt of full enrolment fees.

TRADE HALL
Specialist textile traders at Fibres West 2021 will provide the opportunity to purchase or order their sumptuous textile supplies! Traders will be open on arrival day, Sunday July 4 (the day before classes commence) from 1 pm - 6 pm, and on Monday to Thursday (trading times TBC). See our Sponsors and Advertisers; many of our sponsors and advertisers will be in attendance at Fibres West 2021.

Tutors and students will have the opportunity to sell their own work at the Art Bazaar. Only handmade products to be sold, or publications of your own work, ie. books, DVDs. The cost of a Bazaar table is $25.00 (non-refundable). You can book a table using the online Enrolment Form. This is a great opportunity to market your work to others who appreciate handcrafted fibre/textile pieces and would like to add to their collections or purchase gifts for others (think Christmas in July!)
EXHIBITIONS
Planning is well underway to again host some excellent displays and exhibitions showcasing the work (and collections) of several textile associations in Western Australia. Stay tuned for more details as they come to hand!
ARTIST IN RESIDENCE
Fibres West 2021 will again host an Artist in Residence for the entire week and we are delighted to welcome Jill O’Meehan in this role. Jill’s fibre sculptures and installation are sublimely original, colourful, and set to spark joy.

Jill is a multidisciplinary artist based in Borden in the Great Southern region of Western Australia. She completed a BA Fine Arts Degree from Curtin University in 2015 and works prolifically across the disciplines of Installation Art, Textiles, Sculpture, Printmaking and Abstract Painting. Jill is an avid collector of eclectic objects ranging from what she terms “nature’s cast-offs to human-made debris”.

She also recycles and reuses household plastics, glass and metals; the process of collecting items on mass over long periods is both compelling and therapeutic. Colours, light, shapes and textures are the impressions she most wants to capture. Careful consideration of the beauty of each found object is key to the development of her “Collections” artworks which are installed within a specific space.

More recently, Jill has been exploring textile art, particularly craft processes such as crochet and felting. She has been applying and incorporating these skills in her contemporary art practice, numerous artist-in-residencies, exhibitions and multiple installation works. Just as importantly, Jill is driven by the appreciation and enjoyment and the experiences felt by viewers as they are drawn into her work.  jillomeehan.com.au
